Think of the hardware
The obvious thing to do would be to pack a laptop with power supply and battery charger. These include, in any case, a second battery, so you do not pose in the middle of the session of the juice. Of course, both batteries should be brought along as new and still more than their full capacity, and hence duration.
UMTS card LaptopFast is as important as the laptop, a UMTS, and a GPRS card. Recommended is a combination device, which, if available should have a UMTS connection that will select and access differently than the outdated GPRS standard. With this combination, you are also online even if the local Wi-Fi collapses (or doesn’t exist). UMTS flat rates have been utilized for 25 Euros.
Even if what is offered locally is a wireless network access, you should never depend on it. Because even if everything works out the whole thing is often painfully slow or not available everywhere, so you blogging in specific places (for example, the crowded pressroom) are dependent. More about UMTS charges you find at the end of this article.
A little tip to ingratiate yourself: If three people want to charge their laptops at only one outlet, no one is more popular than the strip.
Depending on the type of event, I would also suggest having a digital camera and a voice recorder, and possibly even insert a video camera. Because nothing would be more annoying as a good opportunity for an interesting interview. Even for these devices, you should recharge all the batteries. Not to mention all the necessary data cables and card readers and then you can start.
Plan in advance
Yes, live blogging is about local things heard and seen that are transformed spontaneously into a text. Nevertheless, it should be even before the start of the event on the topics of the sessions, which you should be informed and pick out some background about the speakers.
Ideally, you should have at hand an introduction for each session in which you imagine all the speakers, and a list of background links on topics that will be mentioned by them. However, spare yourself the embarrassment of publishing an article about someone who had to cancel at short notice and had prepared all the passages through it again.
Work out a very precise plan. When are you going to hear which speech? Who is talking and about what? Where does it take place? By what means do you need to travel? When will you have time to eat something?
